Question: How often do multiple Gel Beads end up in a partition?
Answer: Each partition, or GEM (Gel bead-in-EMulsion), contains a single Gel Bead with a unique 10x Barcode, multiple Gel Beads, or no Gel Beads.
The proportion of GEMs that contain multiple Gel Beads are minimal and should not impact sequencing or assay performance.
The fraction of GEMs that contain no Gel Beads are considered during Chip Loading (i.e., development of the Cell Suspension Volume Calculator Table) and are a consequence of minimizing Gel Bead multiplet rates. GEMs that do not contain Gel Beads should not impact assay performance.
