Question: Can AMPure beads be used instead of SPRIselect beads?
Answer: AMPure beads may deliver inconsistent results when used to purify DNA fragments in a specific size range and are not recommended as a substitute for SPRIselect beads. This inconsistency can have serious adverse affects on data quality so we only recommend using SPRIselect beads for all our SPRI bead clean-ups.
If AMPure beads are substituted for SPRIselect beads, it is highly recommended that each lot be tested at different bead ratios against a DNA ladder to ensure reproducibility of DNA capture. The volume of AMPure beads would be substituted 1:1 with SPRIselect beads.
