The purchase of additional chip kits is optional, as the HT kits come with chip(s) included. Maximum cost savings are achieved using the HT reagent and chip bundles; however, the option to purchase an additional chip allows for increased flexibility in experimental design.

When planning HT experiments, researchers can either scale up the number of cells they plan to run per sample, or they can scale up the number of samples per experiment, to achieve significant cost savings. 

In most cases, the HT kit will be a more cost-effective option for experiments that require processing a higher number of samples (≥4), in a single run. However, the HT kit may also be the better option for experiments that utilize less than 4 samples but require a higher cell load per sample--for example, one 8 rxn HT kit can capture the same number of cells as a 16 rxn standard kit (~160,000 cells), for a reduced price and in a single run.
