Question: Can I mix reagents from different kits?
Answer: We do not recommend mixing and matching reagents from different kits. The QC is done on an entire kit and thus we only can ensure performance when using reagents kitted together.
Some reagents are formulated in a paired manner and may have reduced performance if not used together. For example:
- Fragmentation Enzyme (PN-2000090) and Fragmentation Buffer (PN-2000091) are formulated in a paired manner for consistent performance. From our limited testing of Fragmentation Enzyme and Buffers from different kits that were not lot-matched, we found it may lead to variation in final library fragment size.
- Template Switch Oligo (PN-3000228) and RT Reagent B (PN-2000165) are also formulated in a paired manner for consistent performance. From our limited testing of TSO and RT Reagent B from different kits that were not lot-matched, we found it may lead to variation in transcriptomic mapping rates, usable reads, and sensitivity-related metrics.
