Question: How many HMW gDNA molecules are in a Chromium Genome GEM?
Answer: In the Chromium Genome Application, DNA molecules are captured in individual GEMs during partitioning. The number of HMW gDNA input molecules that are incorporated into each GEM depends on the amount of DNA loaded and the size of the DNA molecules. For human genomes, loading 1.25 ng of HMW gDNA fragments averaging ~50kb in size will result in approximately 10 HMW DNA molecules in each GEM, or approximately 1/7000 of a haploid human genome per GEM.
