Question: Is the performance of the Chromium affected at high temperatures or humidity?
Answer: We have tested the Chromium Controller in temperature-controlled chambers between 18C-28C without seeing an increase in failure rates (i.e. wetting failures). One potential caveat is that the internal temperature of the Chromium instrument may rise above ambient temperature in laboratory conditions, as there is no cooling system or strong fan in the instrument. Therefore, laboratory conditions near this upper limit may actually result in higher temperatures within the instrument. Higher or lower temperatures have the potential to result in GEM generation failures due to the altered viscosity of the reagents.
We have not tested the Chromium Controller in high humidity conditions, but we do not suspect this would impact performance (e.g. the chip plastics are not hygroscopic).
